Center Parcs’ plan for a holiday village near Hawick advances after the council approves an early consultation notice.

The notice is not an application itself; it tells the council how they will talk to the community. This allows the public to share their thoughts early and speak to the developer before applying. The council quickly approved the notice after submission.
A spokesperson said it met legal consultation needs. This speed shows strong support for the project, with elected officials seeing benefits for the local economy. This approval means they move to the next planning stage.
The holiday village could have 700 lodges. A spa and indoor water park are also planned, along with indoor and outdoor sports areas. Restaurants, shops, bars, and a heritage center are included.
Construction should create 750 to 800 jobs, and they want to hire local contractors. The village will have about 1,200 permanent jobs. The project will cost about £350 to £400 million.
Center Parcs runs six villages in the UK and Ireland. These are in Nottinghamshire, Suffolk, Wiltshire, Cumbria, Bedfordshire, and Ireland.
