A plan to convert a Botley house into a children’s home sparks local opposition due to parking & safety concerns.

Neighbors really don’t want the change. Thirty-four people filed objections, and forty-five people signed a petition against it. Even the local Cumnor Parish Council said no.
People worry about parking problems and the location itself. Despite objections, officials suggest approval. The planning committee meets February 26, Wednesday.
The home would house up to four kids, who would be between eight and seventeen. These children have learning disabilities. Staff would always be there, three at a time, working twelve-hour shifts.
Neighbors Mark and Helen Uttley voiced concerns, feeling a home isn’t right for the quiet area. They think noise will increase from staff and deliveries. Parking is already limited, they say.
Ruth Munro, another resident, shares similar worries and is concerned about more traffic and parking issues. She thinks the road’s layout makes it unsafe because the entrance has poor visibility.
Heartview responded to the objections openly and wants to reassure the community members. The home will help kids with autism, they explained, and it shouldn’t cause problems for anyone.
Officials noted parking space was lacking initially. Now, the plan shows three parking spots. The location fits with planning rules, they added, because it is near transport and services. They believe any noise issues can be managed.
