Another Thames Water repair on Botley Road causes traffic disruptions, adding to ongoing road closure and project delays.

Thames Water already had a project there, replacing water mains and reinforcing Osney Bridge. This existing project got delayed because Network Rail’s Botley Road project must finish first.
A pipe keeps water flowing to 22,500 customers. It sits above ground in the cycle lane and spans the bridge.
The sewer pipe repair needed traffic measures. Tankers managed the sewage flow, as this separate repair was at the road’s end.
Thames Water used tankers last week to manage sewer flows after damage to a Botley Road sewer pipe. They temporarily repaired the pipe, and the tankers stopped their work while Thames Water will complete a full repair soon.
Network Rail’s road closure faces more delays. The road has been closed since April 2023 as they plan to upgrade Oxford station. Many delays mean it stays shut, and it may be closed until August 2026 now, after the original reopening was scheduled for October last year.
