The trial reveals victim Kyle Marshall suffered a 15cm deep stab wound to the heart after an attack in Wellhead Park.

Kyle Marshall, 37, likely bled out after someone stabbed him with a machete on June 26th. The park was Wellhead Park in Bourne. Prosecutors think Reece Bruns, 20, attacked Kyle. Apparently, Kyle found Reece in the park and wanted to “sort him out.”
Reece and a 17-year-old teen deny murder. The teen allegedly gave Reece the machete. Both deny having a blade in public.
A pathologist, Dr. Stuart Hamilton, gave evidence at the court in Lincoln. He examined Kyle’s body two days after Kyle died. Dr. Hamilton said Kyle was tall, about 6ft 5ins, and weighed under 20 stone. Kyle did not have other health issues.
Jurors saw images of Kyle’s body where Dr. Hamilton marked 15 injuries. Six injuries came from a sharp object. The heart wound killed him. The deep wound was 15cm and went into Kyle’s body near his chest’s left side, passing his fifth rib before striking his heart.
Kyle took a couple of steps before he fell hard, according to jurors. Dr. Hamilton added that the injury would make someone collapse fast. Besides the heart wound, Kyle had a stab wound on his left arm and four cuts on his left hand.
Dr. Hamilton believed one hand cut was typical, looking like he gripped a blade. Kyle’s injuries could be from two actions, but the order isn’t known. The doctor thought the fatal stab required medium force.
He also said a fall during a fight could cause it, and he couldn’t rule that out. Kyle’s death time was 10:39 pm, and blood tests saw his alcohol level was high, about twice the driving limit. Earlier, the jury heard the 999 call, and the trial continues now.
