Lewis Jackson abused his kitten, Zeus. He neglected a broken leg, leading to amputation. He received a community order.

Rowan Morton is an RSPCA prosecutor. She told the court the kitten almost died. The charity gave the kitten great care. Jackson took Zeus, the cat, to the vet three times. This occurred between March and April 2023. Zeus had serious injuries during this time.
Zeus endured a broken leg. He also had neurological issues. Plus, he suffered pulled tail syndrome. This comes from spine fractures. The vet told the RSCPA about Jackson. Jackson let them take Zeus away.
Judge William Mousley KC presided over the case. Jackson said the kitten attacked him. He used this to excuse his actions. But experts found the tail injury was deliberate. The other issues came from force.
Zeus recovered fully after treatment. He now lives in a safe place. He also lives in a loving environment. Rosa Bennathan defended Jackson. She said he is troubled and young. She said he has mental illness.
She also said he feels bad about hurting Zeus. She stated Jackson didn’t learn how to cope. He didn’t learn to handle his feelings as a child.
The court found Jackson guilty after a trial. He caused suffering by hurting Zeus. He also failed to get Zeus vet care. The judge gave Jackson a community order. It lasts two years. He must complete 15 rehab days. Plus, he got a £750 fine.
Jackson cannot own animals for five years. He cannot ask to end the ban early. RSPCA Inspector Patrick Bailey investigated. He stated Zeus recovered well. He now lives his best life in a new home.
Bailey said Zeus almost did not survive. The kitten wanted to live. He amazed the vet staff by improving. His recovery was incredible.
