Dean Cambage, age 43, robbed a man. It happened around 3 AM in Bournemouth. He told the man to give him everything.

The victim was heading back to his hotel after celebrating his birthday. Cambage held a weapon to the man’s neck on February 21, 2024.

The man thought it was a knife and felt very scared. He feared he would get stabbed and handed over his belongings, including his iPhone 13, a watch, and £75. Then, he ran back to his hotel.

Police arrested Cambage the next day after he tried to run away. A woman with him had the stolen phone and a black screwdriver.

The victim, a bartender, changed his work hours and now finishes by 10 PM. He feels unsafe leaving home after dark and felt extremely vulnerable during the robbery.

His stolen watch was a gift from his father for his 21st birthday, and he planned to keep it forever. Cambage has a long criminal record, already with 59 offences, and was out on license at the time.

His lawyer said he relapsed on drugs and had trouble adjusting to life outside prison. Other drug users surrounded him, and he faced a lot of temptation.

The judge deemed him a dangerous offender who should be monitored for a longer time, allowing for his recall if needed. Cambage admitted to robbery and weapon possession, and received a seven-year prison sentence.
