Police teams from Bradford South and Steerside worked together on Friday and Saturday. Steerside tackles bad driving in West Yorkshire.

The operation was part of Operation Steerside, focusing on the “fatal five” driving offenses and targeting antisocial driving.

The fatal five include not wearing seatbelts, speeding, and driving under the influence. Using a mobile phone while driving and careless or dangerous driving are also included.

A police spokesperson said information from Bradford councillors, who get tips from locals, guides the operation.

The team went to Wibsey and Royds & Buttershaw on Friday. On Saturday, officers focused on Queensbury.

Over those two days, they issued numerous tickets. Ten tickets were for no seatbelts, and nine drivers got speeding tickets.

Nine tickets involved incorrect glass, and eight tickets concerned very dark windows. Three more were for tinted windows, and two drivers got mobile phone tickets.

More tickets were for other issues, including six for illegal license plates and three for dangerous car parts. Three drivers had no MOT.

Additionally, three drivers had no insurance or license. One failed to maintain lights, one had no car tax, one drove without due care, and another had no insurance.

Royds & Buttershaw had the most tickets with 28, while Queensbury and Wibsey each had 16 tickets.

Officers seized four vehicles for document issues. Two cars were taken in Royds & Buttershaw, and two more were seized in Queensbury.

Police made three intelligence reports concerning repeat offenders to help further investigations.
