The Super Soapbox Challenge is back! It’s happening on Sunday, May 4th. This race goes down Kirkgate, Bank Street, and Tyrrel Street. The event draws many people to the city. Almost 50,000 visitors came in three years.

Organizers needed funding. There were questions about a 2025 event. Now, the event got the green light. They want racers to sign up, as Bradford is celebrating its City of Culture year. Organizers said it will be bigger this year.

Bradford’s Super Soapbox Challenge is popular. People build carts and race them. Carts zoom down a big ramp and compete for the fastest time. Past designs include hamburgers and superheroes. Last year, twenty-three teams joined. Danny Malin from Rate My Takeaway started the races.

Jonny Noble, the Bradford BID Chief Executive, said events like this help business. These events bring people downtown, and shops and restaurants get more customers. The city can showcase itself. This creates a nice atmosphere. He thinks the city’s updates look great.

Andrew Pearson, the Marketing Director, also talked about the race. He said he is glad it’s returning, as it’s a fun day for everyone. He added that it builds team spirit and people raise money for charities. He wants to see creative entries.

Watching the Soapbox Challenge is free. It costs money for teams to enter. Individual, business, and charity teams all pay £100. Other businesses pay £200 to enter. Prizes include best design and crew, and you can sign up online.
