A Braintree man received a suspended sentence for domestic abuse, stalking, and driving offenses after pleading guilty in court.

Nishma Shah said police saw him driving badly. He drove on Essex Regiment Way in October. His car swerved and slowed a lot. He had too much alcohol. His breath sample read 127mcg per 100ml, triple the legal limit.
Police released him but told him not to drive. He then crashed his Mazda in The Causeway, Braintree, two months later. He left the scene before arrest. He went home and hurt his wife twice on Christmas Eve.
He stalked his wife for four days after she asked him to leave their house. Ms. Shah explained the events of December 24, noting that Bakanauskas asked his wife to take him shopping and their child went inside the store with him.
His wife saw him buying booze and confronted him in the shop. When they returned home, he threatened she would regret it. Their argument grew worse, and he threatened to kill and pushed her.
His wife wanted him to leave, but he called and texted her constantly for four days. Police then arrested him. His wife said she felt paranoid in a victim impact statement to the court.
Bakanauskas admitted his crimes, including assault, stalking, and driving offenses. These included driving without a license or insurance, driving while disqualified, and drink driving. Bakanauskas spoke from jail, saying he felt very sorry and worked as a project manager.
Martin Stuchfield gave him a 36-week sentence, suspended for one year. Bakanauskas must pay £422 and monitor his alcohol for 120 days. He also needs 25 rehabilitation days.
