Brentwood Council’s 2025/6 budget freezes car park charges, increases council tax by 2.99%, and invests in local services.

Brentwood councillors agreed on the budget at a meeting on February 13. Council tax will increase by 2.99 percent for the year 2025/26. A Band D property will pay £6.12 more annually, covering Brentwood Council services. The council stated its approach is similar to other Essex councils.
Council tenant rents are also going up, increasing by 2.7 percent, which equals £3.03 extra each week. The council will reinvest rent money for housing repairs. Car park charges will not rise at the moment for car parks owned by the council.
The budget includes £750,000 in investments for the year 2025/26. This money will fund CCTV staffing, economic growth, and grants for local groups. Street cleaning will also receive funding.
The Brentwood Centre, key community sites, and play areas across the borough will all benefit from capital investments.
