Poolpod offers dignified pool entry for those with mobility issues at Brentwood Centre.

A Poolpod lifts people into the pool, specifically designed to help individuals with mobility issues to swim, allowing them to enter the pool easily and with dignity. The council highlights its benefits in providing a dignified way to swim.
Tim Barrett, a councillor from the housing committee, spoke about the positive impact of the new Poolpod, noting that it enables people who had previously stopped swimming due to the difficulty of using ladders to now easily access the water.
Adults and children with disabilities can benefit, as well as parents with small children and older individuals. It’s designed for anyone who needs easier access to the pool.
Dr. Barrett says the council is happy to improve physical activity for people and that they worked with partners to achieve this.
Shaun Beagle, who manages the area’s contracts at Everyone Active, considers this a significant step forward for accessibility, emphasizing the upgraded technology. Now more people can swim at the center, promoting fitness, aiding in rehabilitation and enabling everyone may just enjoy the water.
