A worried citizen stopped a drunk driver in Briercliffe. The driver was over three times the legal alcohol limit.

Rowstron is 53 and lives on Duke Street. This happened in Briercliffe, and she admitted two charges: failing to give a sample and driving without insurance.
The court gave her a 12-month community order, which includes 15 days of rehab and six months of alcohol treatment. Rowstron must also do 80 hours of unpaid work.
She cannot drive for two years. The court ordered her to pay £85 in costs, and she also owes a £114 victim surcharge.
A judge called it a “terrible” case of drunk driving. A concerned person followed Rowstron to a service station, and the judge thinks she planned to buy more alcohol.
The judge praised the person’s actions. They called the police and also blocked her car so she couldn’t drive again.
Rowstron lost her job of twenty years. Alcohol problems caused this issue, and the judge said she knew how much Rowstron drank that day, finding it horrifying to consider.
A prosecutor said a person saw her car swerving and nearly hit other cars. He watched her at the petrol station, and she looked like she would fall.
The person called the police and then blocked her car, stopping her from driving away.
Rowstron’s roadside breath test showed 114mcg, while the legal limit is 35. She failed to give a full sample at the station, despite three tries.
Her lawyer said she was very upset; this might explain why she couldn’t give a sample.
He said she knows she needs help and understands her reliance on alcohol sometimes.
