Parking fines in Calderdale increased significantly, reaching £1.6m in 2023-24. Brighouse’s Bradford Road is a hotspot.

The council offers a discount for early payment, giving you 14 days to pay less. The council issued 12,860 tickets during 2022-23 and 17,627 tickets in 2023-24. This data is public on their Data Works site.
Here are the top spots for tickets in 2024: Godfrey Road in Halifax led with 487 fines. Bradford Road in Brighouse had 459. Crossley Street in Halifax saw 415, and Old Market in Halifax got 379.
These locations generated lots of fine money recently. The next list shows top earners from previous years. In 2022-23, Bradford Road earned £24,940 in fines. Godfrey Road was close behind at £23,130. Old Market brought in £23,900, Commercial Street raised £19,990, and King Cross Road earned £12,950.
Shibden Park’s car park got £12,310 from fines that year. Dryclough Lane produced £11,400. Crown Street made £10,580. Bull Green car park earned £10,170, and Alexandra Street raised £9,860. In 2023-24, Old Market led with £31,680. Bradford Road followed at £29,840. Godfrey Road made £28,450, and Commercial Street brought in £19,620.
Harrison Road earned £17,830 that year. Crown Street made £17,810. Crossley Street got £16,590. Dryclough Lane brought in £16,030. Horton Street made £14,630, and Bull Green car park raised £13,590.
Godfrey Road and Dryclough Lane are near the hospital. Crossley Street and Old Market are in Halifax, as are the High Street car park and Commercial Street. Crown Street, Harrison Road, and Horton Street are too, with Alexandra Street and Bull Green car park nearby.
The Bull Green car park is now closed due to road work in the town center. The council handles all parking ticket stuff, issuing tickets for parking rules on-street and off-street.
The council also handles appeals and manages debt collection for unpaid tickets. However, the council is not in charge of private car parks, which have their own enforcement.
