Brixham could gain open space as council considers selling land for £1. Approval could happen next week.

Brixham fought hard for this field. The fight started in the early 2000s, when developers wanted to build houses there. Locals had used the field for fun for over 60 years, and a planning inspector agreed with residents.
The field became a village green in 2010, protecting it from developers. Maintenance and improvements then started. In 2022, developers became interested again, but Brixham Town Council bought the field in June.
Now, the cabinet wants to give away land; a small area near Mudstone Lane. This area connects to the field’s northeast corner. People previously cleaned up illegal dumping there.
The cabinet could approve the one-pound sale, relieving the council of maintenance duties. A third footpath will lead into the field. A legal agreement ensures it stays open to the public.
