Two brothers who stole £1.3 million in cocaine from a Merseyside gang must repay £80,000 or face more jail time.

The judge said Jason made £1,856,944 from crime while Craig made £1,674,443. Since, each brother only had about £40,000 left; failure to pay means nine more months in jail. This order came from a court hearing.
In 2020, they raided a drug house in Liverpool and hurt the resident. The cocaine belonged to the Huyton Firm gang, led by Vincent and Francis Coggins.
The robbery caused serious problems and almost led to planned murders. Police stopped it by reading gang messages after getting into the Encrochat messaging network.
Vincent Coggins thought Brian Maxwell jnr was responsible and planned to have him killed. Maxwell’s father offered money to Coggins to save his son’s life, even though his son was not involved.
Coggins agreed but planned to kill them later. Police then arrested the Huyton Firm members and discovered the Cox brothers stole the cocaine, aided by dealer Richard Caswell.
Jason Cox received over 14 years in prison, and Craig Cox got over 11 years after an appeal. Lee Cox, their brother, was also involved and must pay £40,000, having already served eight years.
A hearing will happen for their associates like Caswell. The CPS can take more assets later if more money is found, said Luke Clements.
