Jordan Crewe, age 27, hurt his girlfriend. His actions led her to attempt suicide. This happened during their relationship, where he controlled her life a lot.

He went to court on February 18. He admitted to several crimes involving assault and controlling behavior. He also messed with her car.

He broke into her house last October, even though she had a restraining order against him. Her friend pushed him out initially, but he went to the patio doors. He entered again, leaving after, and also let the air out of her car tires.

The next morning, he came back and shouted through her letterbox, falsely accusing her of cheating. She called the police, and he left before they arrived.

Later, they arrested him. While jailed, he wrote her many letters asking her to drop the charges and telling her that he loved her.

His most violent attack happened after prison, while he was on bail restricting his contact with her. They still saw each other, however.

On October 27, she got a text, which angered him. He pushed her on the bed and then bit her face hard.

The following month, he tracked her phone and then called and texted her, telling her he watched her locations. He threatened suicide to control her, sending videos with a dog collar and pretending to hang himself.

He dictated her clothing and wouldn’t let her see family alone. On New Year’s Eve, he called her names and, when she refused sex, he threatened her son, planning to attack him at school.

After this, she told him to leave and drove him to his hostel. During the ride, he strangled her using her hoodie from the backseat.

She hid bruises with makeup, which he then hid from her, preventing her from leaving the house. He said her kids were better off without her, and her depression led to a suicide attempt.

She gets panic attacks now and has suicidal thoughts and flashbacks. Doctors diagnosed her with PTSD; the bruises heal, but abuse lasts.

He has five past convictions involving eleven crimes, most of which were related to his past relationships.

The court heard about his life, noting he was homeless during the crimes and faced child neglect, also having ADHD.

He used cocaine and cannabis, and drank too much alcohol, which led to violence and poor emotional control.

The judge gave Crewe two years in jail, with half to be served in prison and the rest on license. The court also issued a restraining order.
