Hey, did you know something cool? Caerphilly residents can swim free, but they need a Defence Privilege Card. It is part of a special program.

The Welsh Government is paying for this with £80,000 for 2024-2025 to help veterans and service members. Last year, they gave £45,000.

The Welsh Government funds the swimming, and the Welsh Local Government Association manages it. Veterans and current military can swim free at participating leisure centers.

Swimming is really good for you because it helps your body and mind. It keeps you active and feeling good, so it’s a great option.

Councillor Chris Morgan mentioned the investment, saying it helps health and acknowledges sacrifices. He wants people to get a Defence Privilege Card to get the free swims.

To join in on the free swimming, you need a Defence Privilege Card first. Get one by registering with Defence Discount Service, an easy process.

Show your card at the leisure center to swim free. You can find details on the Caerphilly Leisure Lifestyle website.
