After years of delays a new cafe and bar are opening in a refurbished Swindon pub building. Opening day is planned for April 1st.

He hired staff and finished the contract. Then, he had a power problem. SSE said the site wasn’t in their network. He worked in the dark for months. Power got connected after media help.
The building used to be The Slurping Toad pub. Later, it was a Chinese takeaway. Then, it was Vinyl Tap record shop. It closed in the mid-2000s.
Simon will open Something Tasty at the front. It’s a carvery and bap takeaway. Vito Mazzotta and Dorothy Topley will run Mirrors bar. It’s in the back.
Contractors did poor work, frustrating Simon. He redid some of it himself. He hopes to open on April 1st.
The repairs were a long list. He fixed the leaking roof. He installed a new boiler after two tries. He got rid of a rat-filled garage. He added working pipes and lights. He redid flooring, paint, and wallpaper.
Simon wants the building back in good shape. The first boiler didn’t work at all. The second lacked a safety certificate. Water poured through the ceiling lights. Pipes lacked inserts. The flue wasn’t connected right.
“It’s one thing after the next,” he said. He can’t believe the obstacles. It has taken a lot of work. He wishes things would speed up. He will be so happy when it opens.
People are very interested. Market traders are eager for it. The council approved a license for alcohol. They can also have live music there.
Simon made a £4.50 lunch pack deal. It has sandwiches, drinks, crisps, and fruit. Traders unable to leave can order it.
His shop will serve pies, snacks, and soup. They will have cold meats, drinks, coffee, and tea.
Vito Mazzotta owns other businesses. He joined Simon’s project. He liked the space behind Something Tasty.
Mirrors will use most of the ground floor. It will have a bar and a dance floor. There will be a stage too.
Vito says things are looking better now. “It’ll be well run,” he promised. They will have good food and drinks. He mentioned a good atmosphere.
They will host events like weddings. Food will include pasta and fish. They might even host wine nights. It is the place to be, he stated.
They still need to install toilets. Ovens and a refrigerator also need to be installed. They need to finish the bar. They’ll also arrange the tables and chairs.
