Plans are in for a cafe-bar in Waddington. It includes late evening hours and alcohol sales, raising local concerns.

The cafe site used to be the Country Kitchen cafe. The new plans keep the cafe function, but also add more evening options selling food and drinks. Hours could be 7 AM to 11 PM, with alcohol sales between 10 AM and 10:30 PM daily. Extended Christmas and New Year’s hours are planned; they may sell booze until midnight or 1 AM!
Harry Heathcote may manage the cafe, which sits on the village’s main road near a brook. Some villagers worry about these plans and have written to the Ribble Valley Council.
One person fears increased public nuisance and believes the longer hours will create noise. The noise could bother nearby homes. Late-night noise has affected their kids’ sleep before, and a family member has special needs. Noise at night could hurt them.
Some worry guests leaving late will cause noise. Parking also concerns some locals, stating parking is already tight. Extra cars might fill Clitheroe Road, which could be dangerous and block residents.
Another resident, who has lived there for 25 years, worries about the changed cafe hours. With an alcohol permit, it will be open 365 days, while the cafe usually closes earlier without alcohol. Waddington already has three pubs and a clubhouse, and the new cafe could create noise and parking issues.
Ribble Valley Council members will review this application and consider the residents’ concerns.
