Maree Todd welcomes funding boosting play parks in Wick, Thurso, and across the far north. Over £732,000 went to Highland parks.

Grizzly Park in Wick will get a full upgrade. The Scottish Government is paying for the work. Local councilors approved park projects last month. They allocated almost £300,000 for Thurso and Wick.
Todd said nearly £1.7 million went to Highland play parks overall. £732,000 was spent in 2024 and 2025. Scotland has given £35 million to upgrade play parks. £15 million was used in 2024 and 2025 alone. About 887 play parks have been improved recently.
Parks in Wick, Helmsdale and other towns got money. Brora, Lairg, Invergordon, and Alness also benefited. Five Caithness play parks will get improvements soon. Gillock Park gets a full redo. So does Grizzly Park. Harland Road, Dunnet, and Scrabster parks get new gear.
Todd thinks improved play parks help Scottish kids. She’s glad Highland Council is getting funding. It is great that so many local parks are being fixed. Play is vital to kids’ growth and well being. The money improves things for Highland families.
