Buying your first home can feel impossible. A new program might help folks in Woolpit, a village near Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.

Cambridge Building Society has a “Rent to Buy” plan. You rent a home for up to three years. Afterwards, you get back 70% of the rent, which you can then use as a deposit on your own place.

They added two semi-detached homes in Woolpit to this scheme. They are holding open house events next week if you are curious.

The first open day is February 20, from 2-5pm. The second one is February 22, from 10am-2pm. You can tour the homes, ask questions, and meet a mortgage advisor from The Cambridge.

“Rent to Home” started in 2019 and helps people save for a down payment. Lottery winners rent homes from the society for up to three years. They get back almost three-quarters of their rent back to use to buy their own houses.

These Woolpit homes are at 2/4 Melvin Way, IP30 9YX. Call William H Brown at 01284 658157 to set up a visit aside from the open days. Visit their website to learn how you can apply.
