Edinburgh Zoo welcomes two young female capybaras. The sisters came from Jimmy’s Farm and are adjusting to their new home.

Darren McGarry works at the zoo; he said capybaras are back after fifteen years. The two females are exploring their habitat, and he hopes people see them inside soon.
The seven-month-old sisters are not yet named. They came from Jimmy’s Farm in Ipswich and travelled to their new home in Edinburgh.
Jimmy Doherty runs Jimmy’s Farm and says the capybaras are beginning a new chapter. These pups have brought joy to his farm, and he knows they are ready for adventure. He hopes people at the zoo love them too.
Soon, visitors can see them in their new home. The space mimics a capybara’s natural habitat as they are the world’s largest rodents, gaining popularity because of internet memes.
These animals live in South America. You can find them in Brazil and Argentina, weighing about 65kg. They typically live around seven years.
