Former Warrington office site will become a car park after apartment plans approved in 2021 stall.

The plan was to build a big apartment building there, ten stories tall, with even a rooftop garden in the works. Planners gave the go-ahead back in April 2021, and shops and offices were also planned for the ground floor.
After they finished tearing down the building, nothing happened. The site stayed empty for a while, with some rubble and metal fencing, but the land got cleaned up recently.
Now, it looks like they will use the land for something different, as evidenced by the recent Euro Car Parks signs. It seems a car park is coming, open all the time, and using an app or phone for payment.
This is happening right next to Time Square car park, which is run by the council. The Warrington Guardian tried to reach the land owner for an update but got no response.
The apartment plan included no parking spaces, but planners thought it was okay because the Time Square car park was nearby. Thirty of the apartments were to have one bedroom, and fifty apartments would have two bedrooms.
The planning papers said it would improve the area and felt it would make Mersey Street, a main road through the town, look better.
