Cardiff is changing some speed limits back. Four major roads are affected by this change. The speed limit goes from 20 mph to 30 mph. Locals asked for this change nearly 1,000 times.

The roads had speed limit changes in 2023. The Welsh government made that decision. People did not like the lower speed limit. The review included public input, and councillors, MPs, and bus companies gave feedback.

Many roads were part of this review process. Most roads had few requests for change. Excalibur Drive had over 2,000 requests, but it will not change because of local spots, including a post office and nearby schools.

The four roads need a legal traffic process. Newport Road goes back, except near a school. Western Avenue will change by the Taff River. Ocean Way reverts from Beignon Close to Rover Way. Hadfield Road changes between two road junctions.

A city councilor said they support the 20 mph rule and have used 20 mph limits since 2014. The councilor is in charge of transport planning, and this is their official position on the matter. They are following the Welsh government’s aim.
