New care home plans get the green light near Bicester’s large Graven Hill development. Cyclists safety highlighted.
The council planning folks met on Thursday, February 20 and gave the project the thumbs up. Some people had cycling concerns, wanting safe routes to town from the new development.
A lady named Claire, with a bike and resident’s group, spoke up for cyclists. She wanted them to add a cycle path linking Graven Hill to Bicester on dedicated paths! She thinks it is a big opportunity, explaining that separate paths will help to keep people safe.
Someone at the meeting raised privacy concerns regarding a cycle path. Andrew Thompson said other plans could add town cycle routes. Samuel Finlay said the place will offer care choices and create about 60 jobs.
One council member wondered about the train crossing closing. They wanted to delay things, but the planning officer did not think that was needed. The council voted, and everyone agreed to build it!
Remember Rodney House? It was there but got torn down in 2016. The town council and the water people were okay with it, and road folks said okay with rules. However, flood folks and the Graven Hill company did not like it. Graven Hill will ultimately get 2,100 homes, jobs, and services.
