Cered Celebrates St Davids Day with Shop Window Competition

Cered celebrates St David’s Day and launched a shop window contest. All Ceredigion businesses can enter now.

Cered had St David’s Day contests before, although those were only in some Ceredigion towns. This time, any business can compete, no matter where they are located.

Towns had contests already, such as Aberystwyth and Cardigan. Those towns can still win town shields and compete for the county prize.

The goal is Welsh color, creativity, and visual appeal. Cered wants the Welsh language shown, creating a buzz and St David’s Day fun.

Cered wants to meet businesses, especially those interested in joining “Hapus i Siarad,” a campaign encouraging businesses to have conversations in Welsh.

Hannah James organizes this, hoping businesses show their Welsh side and display their creativity.

Cllr Davies supports the idea, reminding us that St David said “do the little things.” Decorating windows is one small thing that creates a colorful, welcoming place. Streets show celebration and decor which can grow big on March 1 as many people and businesses act to make streets rich in color and celebrate our Welshness with style.

To enter, share a shop window picture, posting it as a story online and tagging @menteriaithceredigion.

The contest closes soon, with Friday, February 28, being the final day. Cered will judge shop windows and share the winner later at the parades in Aberystwyth and Lampeter.
