Consultation for the Chapel Hill Solar Farm near A449 extended. Concerns raised about size & road work. Share opinions by March 10.

This solar farm would sit near Worcester Road. It’s about 2km north of Great Malvern. You’d find it on both sides of the A449 road. The public had until February 21 to comment, but the deadline changed since three councils are involved.
Now everyone has time to share their opinion. The solar farm could power 19,000 homes each year. It has a 49.9MW capacity plus battery storage, and they will decide on the plan next year.
The plan includes new wildlife habitats. Bird boxes, grassland, and better landscaping are included. It will also provide a £660,000 community fund.
RWE presented the plan at a meeting on February 12. Many residents voiced their concerns at Powick Parish Hall. Councilor Tom Wells said the size startled people. He thinks the scale could cause the plan to fail.
Daniel Corcoran (RWE) admitted the project is large. He said smaller farms mean more farms needed overall. Roadwork could last over seven months. They will bury a power line from Powick to Malvern Link. Folks fear traffic will worsen.
Mr. Corcoran noted the cable route needs approval. RWE wants to discuss the best construction methods. Look up application M/24/01781/FUL on the council website. You can share your views about the solar farm.
