Police arrested a man and woman in Chapelfields. They possessed many suspected Class A drugs.

The arrest occurred around 7:30 PM on February 19th. Officers stopped a car on Askham Lane. The police initially detained them for a roadside search.

They found five wraps of substances on the driver. These included white and brown materials. The driver also had two phones and £250. Police took both to a nearby station for deeper searches.

They found more suspected Class A drugs on the passenger. Both suspects are in their 40s. They were arrested for drug possession and intent to distribute.

Both currently remain in police custody. Chief Inspector Jon Aldred commented on the arrests. He said they will not tolerate illegal drug use.

Drugs lead to violent crime, Aldred stated. He said drugs connect to other crimes. These crimes affect our communities badly. They actively target high-harm offenders.

Aldred urged the public to stay alert. He asked people to report any concerns to the police. Report suspicious activity by calling 101. In an emergency, call 999 right away.
