A Help For Heroes charity box vanished from Everest Eatery. The theft likely happened before 4 PM on Wednesday, February 19. Police learned about this on Friday, February 21.

The restaurant is on Worcester Road. Raj Kunwar, the owner, called the act awful. Kunwar said a young man came in, looking to be in his early thirties. He said he was homeless and asked for food.

The staff were quite busy then. They told him to wait a bit and promised to help him shortly. Seeing the staff’s workload, he took the box, which Kunwar stated held around £100. Then, the man left the restaurant.

Staff noticed the missing box the next day. Kunwar has CCTV footage of the man and plans to send this to the police. The footage shows him entering and leaving.

It appears he hid the box down his pants. Everest Eatery has supported Help For Heroes since 2019. They sent two full boxes to the charity. This stolen box was almost full when it was taken, and they captured clear footage outside.

Kunwar felt bad someone would do this, especially since people have been kind and generous. He is waiting for the police to call him now. Police confirmed they got theft report stating the theft occurred before 4 PM on Wednesday.
