New affordable housing gets the green light in Chepstow, addressing local needs despite business land repurposing.

Amy Langford shared this with the council committee. The plan switched to 100% affordable housing. Barratt David Wilson Homes will build and Pobl Housing Association will own them.
The Severn Princess ship raised some concerns, as it’s a historic ferry. This ship isn’t actually on the building site. Therefore, it’s outside the project’s scope.
Developers don’t have to fund its restoration. However, they said they’re willing to help. The project won’t harm the ship; it won’t move it or block access.
Ann Webb thanked the planning team and hopes the ship’s story ends well. Past approvals allowed 449 homes total. These 45 new homes make 419.
These homes include one and two-bedroom flats. One building has 15 flats for older residents, another has 11 flats at below-market rent, and the last has 20 for general social housing.
Only 31 parking spaces are planned. The council thinks this is fine because the location is central and Pobl’s renters own fewer cars.
