Gwent Police said they got a report about a man with a possible gun in the Bulwark area of Chepstow on Friday. It happened around 11:05 AM. Police officers and firearms officers went to the area to be extra careful.
They have now arrested five people for suspected drug offenses and are in police custody. Chief Superintendent Ian Roberts spoke about it, knowing the police presence caused worry. He said there is no current danger to the public, and the firearms officers came for safety for both the public and the officers.
Even with the arrests of five people, a police cordon is there now as they are doing more investigation. You can talk to the police if you are worried. Officers will keep searching the area, so you might see the police there as they have not found a gun yet.
They think it was a one-time thing. Police take weapon sightings very seriously and want you to tell them about anything suspicious, or to report any information about weapons.
