Margaret lives at Chesham Leys Nursing Home. She knits hats for new babies, and these hats go to Stoke Mandeville Hospital, specifically to the Rothschild Ward, which is a maternity unit.

Margaret enjoys knitting very much and wanted to help other people. Staff at Chesham Leys helped Margaret, and Lynette, the manager, helped sew hats. The home also has a Knit and Natter group where they knit blanket squares too.

The Ducklings Trust supports Margaret’s hat project; it’s a charity for maternity care serving Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe hospitals. The hats will warm premature babies and become treasured keepsakes.

Kimberley, who is in charge of the maternity unit, thanked Margaret for the kind donations. She said they appreciate all knitted items, and they help create lasting memories as babies take their first hats home.

Margaret liked handing over the hats and seeing they made a difference. This gave her a good feeling, and Chesham Leys helps residents through hobbies, aiming to improve quality of life.

The Ducklings Trust raises money to buy equipment for the maternity units. They aim to improve the unit’s environment, so both staff and families will benefit, and fundraising helps the units create a great place for birth.

Stoke Mandeville Hospital is the biggest in Buckinghamshire, providing emergency and special treatments. The hospital has many services, including A&E and maternity care, as well as critical care and ophthalmology.

The hospital also has a burns unit and the Spinal Injuries Centre. It is the main site for appointments, and people also go there for surgery.
