Ashley Hughes is likely the new resources director. He will also act as chief finance officer. His start date is not set yet, though.

Hughes replaces Adele Taylor, who filled the role temporarily. She earned £1,100 daily since last June, and the council also paid the recruitment agency £198 daily, which covered pension and other fees.

Hiring Hughes permanently will save money. The council, however, still pays for other interim roles, revealing their desire to fill senior management jobs.

The council will discuss this next week. Eight people applied for the director job. The committee picked Hughes as their top choice.

Hughes has worked at Tameside Council since April 2023, where he was their resources director and also served as their S151 officer. From 2020 to 2023, he worked in Barnet, holding the position of finance assistant director and deputy S151 officer.

The council meets February 26 at Tatton Park. The meeting starts at 11am.
