The Defence Ministry spoke about a helicopter. It flew over southern England on Monday, February 24th, in the afternoon. The helicopter was doing some practice drills.

Someone saw the Chinook land at Dudsbury’s range. It stayed there for just about one minute. This happened around 1:35 pm, the reader said, and flight data showed landings at other golf courses spread across southern England.

A source from the MoD mentioned RAF Odiham operates the helicopter. He stated it was on a normal training flight. Crews often train in open areas. The helicopter practiced hovering and landing near the old golf club site before leaving for more crew training elsewhere.

Last summer, one Chinook got stuck in a field near Bere Regis for days because of a mechanical problem. Generally, Chinooks are useful support helicopters working from land or ships in many places.

These helicopters mainly move troops and supplies. They also evacuate casualties from battles. Chinooks can carry up to 55 soldiers or haul about ten tonnes of mixed cargo.

You can use them for search and rescue work, too. They support special jobs, and one task is military aid to civil authorities.
