The B4643 road will close. It runs from Patterdown to Showell in Chippenham. The closure lasts most of 2025, starting January 6 and ending December 19. This is due to infrastructure improvements there.

Another road nearby also closed; that closure began February 14 and should last until November 14. These closures cause issues.

The week of February 17 saw big traffic jams on the A4 through Chippenham. The Patterdown junction created problems, and drivers experienced significant delays. Traffic maps showed A4 lane closures near Methuen Park Roundabout. This made the ongoing road closure worse.

The A350 also faced delays on Monday recently; queues stretched back onto its bypass. One driver complained about the delays and blamed another B4643 closure. Temporary traffic lights added to the mess, and they also noted the increased cost of petrol. The delays took time from work to collect their kid.

The same road closed the first half of last year. Workers built a roundabout then, serving a new housing development. Motorists dealt with increased traffic, and Chequers Roundabout was especially bad. The closure created a bottleneck, pushing more cars onto A-roads.
