Chris Packham praises Hythe vets for quick action after his dog Nancy suffers from grass seed injuries.

Chris praised the Seadown vets in Hythe and stated they quickly helped Nancy. Seadown vets want owners to check pets after walks and look for any foreign objects on their furry friends.
Veterinary surgeon Mirka Palenikova treated Nancy. Chris brought Nancy in with a weepy eye, and the cause wasn’t clear right away. Mirka found a grass seed behind Nancy’s eyelid causing pain and quickly removed it with numbing drops. There was no lasting damage to Nancy’s eye.
Soon after, Chris came back with Nancy as her other eye had the same problem. Chris and his partner realized the symptoms fast and rushed her back to the vet clinic. Mirka removed the second seed easily again.
Grass seeds are hard to find, but they can cause big problems. In some cases, they travel inside the body, and this may require CT or MRI scans.
Nancy now wears goggles when playing outside to protect her eyes. Chris was impressed by Mirka’s quick work and how gently she removed the grass seed. He said Nancy was in great hands.
Chris stresses that eyesight is important for dogs, and caretakers should not ignore eye injuries. Chris stated people have a duty to wildlife and that wild grasses should grow in gardens.
He believes awareness helps pets and the planet, and knowledge of these seed problems is very helpful. He wants people to be aware.
