South Kent Christian Community Church in Folkestone could be transformed into two residential homes following a new proposal.

The South Kent church has been empty a while. No one bought it in four and a half years. So, the plan is to create two homes inside. The main church becomes a two-bedroom house with a cool mezzanine level inside.
The old church hall turns into a small, one-bedroom house. Holden thinks it’s good for older folks and says nobody wanted it for businesses. He aims to preserve the church’s style.
The main entrance stays really tall. You’ll still see the wooden truss, and a big window will light it up nicely. The mezzanine will have a seating spot where you can see the truss and window.
The smaller house gets a bedroom, living area, and bathroom. They will tear down a lean-to space to create two separate gardens, ensuring each house has its own outdoor area.
The plan hopes to boost the area and supports diverse housing needs. The council should decide by the end of March, and they think it adds to the town’s vibe.
