New lines at Stockmoor car park address parking fine complaints after unclear bay markings caused confusion.

White lines now mark each parking space clearly. Dark bricks once marked bays, making them hard to see. Customers had trouble distinguishing the parking areas.
The free parking issues peaked in January 2025. Day and Bell owns the car park. They agreed to replace the incorrect signs. UKPC installed them.
Signs now state you must park within a marked bay. Visitors get a maximum stay of three hours. Not following rules may result in a £60 fine, if paid within 14 days. The fine can increase to £100 if unpaid.
Some customers overturned wrongly issued charges. Bill Revans, a councillor, raised the issue in December. He spoke to the Bridgwater Mercury newspaper in January. UKPC installed the wrong sign and never removed it.
Revans said this impacts local shops. Residents received tickets for parking outside unclear lines. Day and Bell are likely very unhappy about this.
The car park now has marked motorcycle bays. This is in addition to the new lines and signs. The clearer markings should prevent future problems.
