Colne Couple Celebrates EuroMillions Win of £61 Million in 2024

A British couple, both 54, won a huge lottery prize. They were celebrating their anniversary in Fuerteventura, marking thirty years together as husband and wife. Their winning ticket shared a £123 million jackpot with someone in Spain. The draw happened on January 30th.

The lottery folks shared the news at Mitton Hall Hotel, located in the Ribble Valley area. Mr. Nuttall recounted the surprising story of finding out about their win. He woke up early on their second vacation day, intending to finish some work. He then noticed an email from the lottery with “exciting news.”

He immediately checked his lottery account. Initially, it showed a balance of only £2.60. He dismissed it, saying, “Fair enough,” and shut off his laptop. After breakfast, they drove around, completely unaware of their true fortune.

Later, a second email arrived, urging them to recheck the account. This time, they were in total shock upon seeing that they had won over £61 million! Mr. Nuttall initially suspected it was a scam or some kind of mix-up, admitting they struggled to think clearly amidst the excitement and a weak phone signal.

They desperately drove around the island searching for a better signal. His wife held the phone high, monitoring the signal strength as he drove. Finally, she shouted for him to stop, and he pulled over to the side of the road.

They contacted the lottery company. After a consultation with her manager, the lottery representative confirmed they had won £61,708,321, a EuroMillions jackpot prize. The couple plans to retire early immediately; Ms. Nuttall has already quit her job as a civil engineer. They intend to purchase a new family home in Lancashire and a holiday home in Portugal.

Mr. Nuttall stated their lives would drastically change. “We have worked hard,” he mentioned, expressing his anticipation for a more relaxed future. They will continue to support a special charity called BK’S HEROES, which honors Ms. Nuttall’s cousin, Ben King.

Mr. Nuttall emphasized the charity’s importance to their family, saying they are all involved in its operation. Ben inspired them all with his bravery and his desire to create a charity to assist others in the future. The Nuttalls are now 29th on the Lottery Rich List and the 39th UK winners of over £50 million.
