Locals line streets for Hope Gordon, 6, murdered last month. Service held after tragic death in West Calder.

Hope and her father, Mark Gordon, died. He was 36 years old. Emergency crews found them in West Calder after forcing entry into the property. Police Scotland started a murder investigation and is looking into Hope’s death. Mark Gordon’s death is not suspicious.
On Monday, there was a private service held in Livingston for family. Then, a horse-drawn carriage took her coffin through town to the cemetery. Many people came to “Hope’s Day,” the name the family gave the occasion. People threw flowers at the hearse as it passed.
Her coffin had Paw Patrol characters, her favorite cartoon. A car followed with a Paw Patrol floral tribute, provided by her school, Toronto Primary. Two white horses pulled the hearse and wore white cloths with blue and yellow feathers, referencing Paw Patrol colors.
A family friend dressed as Chase, a Paw Patrol character, walked in the procession. Family members followed in cars behind. A piper led the procession, wearing Highland dress and playing music for “Hope’s final journey,” as the family described it.
A family friend, Melanie Wheeldon, started a fundraiser which helped pay for Hope’s Day. It raised over £10,000, far exceeding the original goal of £2,000. Melanie Wheeldon posted a statement saying their hearts broke on January 20, 2025, when they learned of Hope’s tragic murder.
Hope was a vibrant and loving girl, known for her infectious smile, kind spirit, and love of animals. Her life ended too soon, leaving a void in the hearts of many. Her family and friends will never forget her.
