Local council saves war memorial, school bell and student records from closed, damp Hutton Primary School.

The North Milk Community Council stepped in. They wanted to save some old stuff. Workers pulled out some important things. They saved a war memorial that honored former students of World War I, given by the Hutton Women’s War Work Party.
They also saved the school bell. A register with student records was also saved, showing kids from the 1940s to the early 2000s. The building wasn’t used for years, and many items suffered from the damp and cold.
Some things were too damaged to keep, but they managed to rescue some. There’s also a small box of diaries and photos. Some items are fragile because of the dampness.
The memorial is very hard to move. Boreland Village Hall wants to display them, as does the Hutton Community Initiative. The items will stay in their community so people can actually see them again.
They will become meaningful once more, and people will look at the items. Everyone hopes they will show reflection and care. The council helped find the items and told the community council.
Local groups are now storing the items. They want to share them locally. The community appreciates their efforts.
