A Connah’s Quay man avoids jail after breaching a suspended sentence. He receives alcohol treatment and must pay costs.

Waller, age 27, went to court on Wednesday at Mold Crown Court. He admitted breaking the order by missing an appointment in January.
Karl Scholz spoke for probation, explaining that Waller was supposed to do 15 days of activities and had only finished six days so far. Since skipping the appointment, he got three more chances and attended all three office appointments. The probation service suggested not using the original sentence.
Instead, they wanted an extra requirement. Judge Niclas Parry asked if Waller had a job, and Waller said he works as a roofer, also calling himself a “jack-of-all-trades”.
Alexa Carrier defended Waller, stating he knew the new requirement would be hard. However, she explained that jail would be even harder.
Judge Parry spoke to Waller directly, saying he had to toughen the order because this breach was Waller’s first one. The judge noted Waller seemed to be trying and recognized Waller had some issues.
Parry ordered alcohol treatment for three months and urged Waller to keep his appointments. The judge warned that a second breach could lead to jail time.
Waller must also pay £190 in costs related to the case.
