Okay, so something bad happened. It was at the Connah’s Quay cemetery on Bryn Road. This happened Monday, February 17, when someone vandalized many graves there.

Police in North Wales arrested someone about it, and the community is really helping out. People started multiple fundraisers because they want to fix the damaged headstones.

Andrew Hughes, a local, started a fundraiser with a goal to raise £1,000 for repairs since they need special equipment to fix the stones. Wrexham Police FC, a non-profit group, also organized a charity football match, too.

They have raised over £700 so far from both fundraiser pages, and locals are encouraged to give if possible. Sgt Dave Smith, the founder of Wrexham Police FC, stated the football match will be on April 6, 2025, a Sunday, with a game against the Talking Toffees at Ysgol Clywedog.

The officers want to help the families affected because the gravestone damage caused them much distress, and many worry about the repair costs. They ask for online donations now, and Flintshire Council’s Bereavement Services will help ensure funds reach those who need them.

Andrew also wants to help families pay for repairs because getting the headstones back is expensive, and special equipment is required. He said it’s heartbreaking to see this and feels the community can support these families, emphasizing that together, they can help.

People also volunteer their time to clean up. To help, call Flintshire’s Bereavement Services at 07711438032.
