The Cornish Bakery in Swanage closed for renovation. It was closed for two weeks as they updated the inside and outside. The bakery reopened on February 26.

Mayor Tina Foster officially reopened it. The bakery is on Institute Road and has operated there since 2011. The bakery employs over ten people and they have supported the local RNLI group.

Seating increased from 12 to 34 places. They added new bench and lounge chairs, along with dining chairs. The bakery’s storefront is now pink.

They used Farrow & Ball’s ‘Sulking Room Pink’. Inside, you’ll find oak and marble tables and herringbone flooring. Real marble decorates the countertops, and a Clayworks clay wall adds an earthy touch that makes the walls breathable.

Paintings from local artists adorn the space. These artists include William Luz, Sophie Harding, Ella Carty, Cat Charman, and A-Side Design. They bake all products fresh daily on site, and the open kitchen lets you watch them work.

They sell pasties and sausage rolls, along with cakes and baked goods. New items include a pistachio croissant and a shakshuka croissant. They source many ingredients locally.

Rosie Wylie manages the Swanage bakery. She and her team welcome customers daily, opening from 8 AM to 5 PM seven days a week.

Mat Finch, the Managing Director of Cornish Bakery, discussed the Swanage location. He appreciates having a bakery there and mentions the town may become the “Dorset Town of Culture” in 2026.

The company plans to invest in properties. They value their team’s work, believing the team is important. Finch noted the need for renovation because the brand changed a lot over time.

The bakery offers a full bakery experience now. Coffee has become their top seller. The renovated space is premium and stylish, suiting residents and visitors well. Even dogs are welcome, and they look forward to seeing everyone.
