Suffolk council orders action against Widdington Recycling for breaching site rules, causing odors and pests.

The company, Widdington Recycling, filed an appeal last week. This happened after the council told them to fix things. The location is Falconer Road in Haverhill.
Suffolk County Council says they broke seven rules. These rules started when they got permission back in 2013. They started work too early, that’s one rule. They also put up lights without asking, another issue.
The council says they can only store demolition stuff, but they’re storing all kinds of trash. This includes smelly household and garden waste. People are complaining about the smells, flies, and vermin.
The order says stop taking the rotting waste. They had three days to remove it after January 10th.
The council also wants them to remove buildings. A waste sorting place must go. A weighbridge, office, concrete plant, wall, and fence must also be removed. They must remove equipment too, including mixers and other things.
The council says the odors and flies are a problem. The air quality is bad for people nearby. It makes it hard for them to live and work there. The council says they are accepting the wrong trash. This trash smells bad and attracts flies and makes noise.
The council visited in summer 2024 because complaints exist. They found tons of household waste at the recycling center. They kept finding bagged waste when they visited again. The company had a deal to take trash from another council.
