Blackburn with Darwen council appeals for information after wood dumped on Patterson Street. Fly-tipping incidents total 4,167.

The council reminded people about waste disposal on February 19. You have to deal with your trash correctly. It’s the law.
Patterson Street has a fly-tipping problem, and the council shared a video of waste dumping. The video showed two men unloading waste using a van.
In January, the council said no more dumping. They reported 4,167 fly-tipping incidents. Back alleys are especially bad, accounting for 55% of all incidents, while footpaths and bridleways accounted for 25%.
Household waste makes up most dumped items. It makes up 42% of all incidents. Contact the council if you know anything, and you can email them privately.
Martin Eden said cameras watch for illegal dumping, running day and night. Sometimes, they can’t read license plates, making public help crucial in those cases.
Fly-tippers often do this repeatedly, so others often know who they are. Fly-tipping is a crime. You could get a big fine, or you could even go to jail for six months.
Email envirocrime@blackburn.gov.uk if you know something. The council will keep your information private, and there will be no problems for giving tips.
Blackburn made those who dumped illegally pay £44,978 in 2024.
