Concerns surface over potential cuts to Route 36 bus after worries highlighted by local councillor Duane Farr.

Farr said folks asked if the bus was safe. Kinson lost another bus, the 4a, before. Once a route vanishes, it rarely comes back. He thinks protecting the Route 36 is very important.
People in Kinson use it a lot. The national government funds the Route 36. Farr thinks BCP Council needs to ask them for money. The government wants lots more people using buses. They aim for a big increase by 2035.
Farr also said students use the bus. They go to Bournemouth University and AUB. Another councillor, Andy Hadley, also commented. He’s in charge of climate and energy at BCP Council.
Hadley said the council helps fund many bus routes. These routes need help to run. They might need to look at some routes later. Councils face money problems across the country.
The council might ask the bus company to run it alone. About 1.2 million bus trips happen each year. Many people have no other travel option. The council will consult people before making changes.
Hadley suggested using the bus to keep it running. This shows that there are concerns with ensuring reliable bus services. It is a challenge for the local community.
