Several drivers from Newport, Caerphilly, Cwmbran and Blackwood face charges including drunk driving and drug driving, with fines and bans issued.
Charlie Norton, age 29, lives in Oakdale, Blackwood. He drove drunk in Penmaen this January and had too much alcohol. His breath test showed 72 micrograms. He pleaded guilty to the drunk driving charge. He is banned from driving for 18 months and owes £1,377 in fines, costs, and a surcharge.
Samuel Williams, age 26, lives in Cwmbran. He drove drunk in Newport this January. His breath showed 81 micrograms of alcohol and he pleaded guilty in court. He cannot drive for 20 months now and must also pay £813, covering a fine, costs, and a surcharge.
Cariad Jarrett, age 24, lives in Gelligaer, Caerphilly. She let her XL Bully dog, Elvis, off-leash in a public place. The dog also wasn’t wearing a muzzle. This happened last October and November. She admitted this in court and must pay a £240 fine. She also owes £85 for costs.
Kelly Love, age 38, lives in Cefn Hengoed, Caerphilly. She drove drunk in Blackwood in 2024. Her blood had 125 milligrams of alcohol. She pleaded guilty to the charge and is banned from driving for one year. She also needs to pay £1,345 for a fine, costs, and a surcharge.
Raymond Olsen, age 39, lives in Newport. He committed a public order offense last October. He admitted to what he did in court. He needs to pay a £120 fine and is also responsible for £85 in costs.
Luke Priddle, age 35, lives in Pontypool. He drove with cannabis in his blood in Broad Street last October. He pleaded guilty to drug driving charges and is unable to drive for 17 months. He must pay £365 in a fine, costs, and surcharge.
Elliot Parry, age 29, lives in Pontllanfraith, Blackwood. He drove while having a cocaine derivative in his blood on the B4251 road in Ynysddu. The incident occurred last August.
He pleaded guilty for drug driving. He has to pay £575, covering the fine, costs, and surcharge.
