Crocodiles of the World opened in 2011. It started near Witney, and they only had eight crocodile species then.

The zoo moved to Brize Norton, near Carterton. Now, over 100 crocodiles live there, representing 20 different species. Some are critically endangered.

Shaun Foggett started the zoo. He wanted to share his love for crocodiles and help conserve them. The zoo hopes to inspire future zoologists and help these species survive.

The Crocodiles of the World Foundation is a charity supporting conservation projects globally. Mr. Foggett went to the Gambia in West Africa and helped survey crocodile populations there.

The Gambia has three crocodile types. One is the slender-snouted crocodile, which faces critical endangerment. They found young slender-snouted crocodiles, with the largest being eight feet long and the smallest about one year old.

They only found two of three species. This is concerning, said Mr. Foggett, and more work is vital for crocodiles. He wants to collect more data and hopes to search for the third species soon.
