New hub ensures banking access for Crook after TSB closes. Services will be available weekdays.

Signs recently appeared at the hub’s location, and builders are working inside to finish it up. The hub opens weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM. It’s in the old Barclays branch by the market square.
Barclays closed in February 2021, as fewer customers caused the closure. A petition failed to save the branch. They split the old bank space last year, and Domino’s now occupies the other half.
LINK’s Nick Quin spoke about the hubs, saying hubs help local businesses. He is happy about the Crook hub, as many people still need cash services.
We must protect cash access across the UK.
A banking hub is a shared bank branch. People from different banks can use it. The Post Office runs a counter service where customers can do normal banking. This includes cash transactions.
The hub has space for bank reps too, with bank workers using it one day a week. Banks share the same location and send staff on different days.
Two hundred hubs are now open nationwide, including Newton Aycliffe and Seaham. Thirteen hubs are planned for the North East, and Spennymoor, Stanley, and others will get one.
